Summer - A Work in Progress

What I’ve been up to:

  • Taking care of my family - our kids and my parents (and myself to the best of my ability)

  • Praying that the wildfires affecting the west get under control and the firefighters stay out of harm's way.

  • Remodeling the house we raised our kids in - selling it was always part of the plan but it needs a lot of love - including all new decks, fire mitigation, a kitchen remodel and bathroom remodels - and we are doing the work ourselves. It’s been a lot. But outsourcing all of that was NOT in the budget and I happen to be married to someone who knows how to do all of that. We are just trying to keep each other motivated because it’s an essential part of our retirement plan.

  • Spending as much time as we can with our soon to be launching kids. Our daughter is off to NYC in the fall and our son will be a senior in high school. Time is just moving so quickly and I’m trying to savor having them both under one roof for as long as I can.

  • Just trying to keep all of our lives spinning - meals, appts, chores, laundry, the garden - it's a full summer and we’re juggling sharing vehicles and fluctuating work schedules - it's a lot and I’m tired.

  • Loved this book. Loved this show

One of things that helped us recently was sitting down and making a list (surprise, surprise) and getting some dates on the calendar and making time in the planner to work on some projects/tasks.

  • What do we absolutely want to do this summer (for fun or relaxation - eg. a weekend camping trip in the high country and an outdoor summer concert).
  • What work and life projects absolutely need to get done by the end of the summer (eg. decks rebuilt, prep for 2027 Planner launch and Henry’s senior pics).

  • How can we all help and support one another this summer? What do we each need help with?

  • What do we want to help the kids with this summer (investing, budgeting, finding an apartment in NYC - no small feat, college applications, etc).

Hope you all are having a joyful summer~ Stay tuned for Planner Launch later this month!
