Simple Gift Giving
We aim to keep it simple with gift giving for the kids with 4 giving categories (plus stocking stuffers): One thing they want (this is generally something big that they’ve asked for – eg. a new scooter or sewing machine); something they need (might be a new winter jacket or sneakers or new skis); something to make (something creative to keep them busy inside during winter (eg. new Legos or art supplies) & things to read (new books). With tons of generous grandparents, this helps keep things somewhat under control. 🙂 It’s a fine balance between making Christmas magical and recognizing how blessed we already are, isn’t it? And reminding their hearts about the real reason for the season that doesn’t include physical presents. The grandparents all get family shutterfly albums and gift boxes from our local chocolate & coffee shop. And I aim to have the shutterfly album ordered by the end of October (right after halloween pics).
